On this day in 1916, 151 ships of the Royal Navy Grand Fleet & 99 ships of the German High Seas Fleet met at the Battle of Jutland. Britain claimed strategic victory under Admirals Jellicoe & Beatty, and Germany a numeric victory under Admirals Scheer & Von Hipper. 8645 sailors were lost from both sides.
