The U.S. Navy radar picket destroyer USS Frank Knox (DDR-742) aground on Pratas Reef, South China Sea, with several ships attempting to pull her off. She went aground on 18 July 1965. This view was probably taken at about the time she was finally refloated on 24 August 1965. Ships pulling are (from left to right): USS Grapple (ARS-7), USS Conserver (ARS-39), USS Sioux (ATF-75), USS Greenlet (ASR-10) and USS Cocopa (ATF-101).

The Type 45 spent six months helping safeguard vital international shipping lanes against indiscriminate attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden – through which 11% of global trade passes.

Malaysian law enforcement and naval personnel boarded the Chinese salvage vessel MV Chuan Hong 68 found to be operating illegally again after previously stealing scrap metal from WWII wrecks of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse. The Malaysian govt has yet to provide details of the ongoing case after the ship was detained last year.
