APCL Falmouth says that RFA Argus overhaul completed recently included significant upgrades and alterations to the aircraft lifts and overhaul/replacement of several onboard systems. Now designated as a Littoral Strike Ship (PCRS afloat medical capability also retained), Argus will return to Falmouth to begin a major LIFEX refit later this year following participation in CSG25 deployment. It is intended she will serve beyond 2030, when she will be approx 50 years old.

On this day in 1943, USS Yorktown (CV-10) was commissioned. She would go on to serve with distinction in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. This clip of the Yorktown firing her 5 inch guns is from the 1944 documentary The fighting lady.

USS Minnesota (SSN 783) returns to Naval Base Guam following its first operational tasking while forward-deployed in the Indo-Pacific region. As one of five subs assigned to Submarine Squadron 15, Minnesota reaffirms the Navy’s strength and presence in the Indo-Pacific.
