HMS Liverpool undergoing repairs at the Mare Island Shipyard on the West Coast of the United States on 26 June 1941. During the process, shipyard workers had to rebuild the entire bow structure (lost due to Italian torpedoes) as well as assemble a new triple 152mm turret for HMS Liverpool. The opportunity was also taken to overhaul the cruiser while also fitting new anti-aircraft guns and other equipment. To permit the cruiser to steam from the Mediterranean all the way to California required the fitting of a temporary bow. The lower section of this bow is still visible in the photo. from Blogger https://ift.tt/ARDqyvB via IFTTT Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Like Loading...
