HMS Dragon, a Type 45 destroyer of the Royal Navy, successfully destroyed a supersonic missile during a live-fire exercise on May 15, 2025. This event marks the first time the Royal Navy has intercepted a target performing complex evasive manoeuvers, simulating advanced anti-ship weapons. The exercise, named Formidable Shield 25, was the largest live-firing exercise in Europe this year and involved 11 NATO allied and partner nations.
