Ex HMS Bristol, in 3 basin Portsmouth. The discovery of more asbestos and decay has delayed her disposal. Hull strengthening is required to add 650 tons of ballast to make her stable for towing. The need for favourable weather means she will probably be towed to Turkey for scrapping in Spring 2025.

On this day in 1982 Leander Class Frigate, HMS Bacchanti was transferred to the RNZ Navy. First Commissioned in 1969 she served the UK and New Zealand as HMNZS Wellington, for over 30 years. Finally decommissioned in 2000 she was later sunk as an artificial diving reef in the Cook Strait.

On this day in 1942, cargo ship USS Alhena (AK-26), was hit by a torpedo from the Japanese submarine I-4. The crew quickly controlled the fires and then used sheets of plywood to construct temporary bulkheads. The Alhena was repaired and back in service 8 months later.
