RFA Fort Victoria is due to begin a refit in September 2026, with a possible return to service in 2027 if crew can be found. The primary driver for this challenging task is to generate suitably qualified and experienced people to crew the Fleet Solid Support Ships when they enter service.

Decommissioned Soviet-era submarines in the Gremikha naval base in the Barents Sea. Several submarines at this site contain spent nuclear fuel in their reactors, posing a significant radiological contamination threat to the Arctic region.
