On this day. 20 years ago, in 2005, the bow section for the first Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Daring left HMNB Portsmouth for the Clyde to be joined to the hull. Commissioned in 2009, Daring has been laid up for refitting since 2017 but is expected to re-enter service shortly.
