As part of BIW’s new sea trials program, the future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) made a scheduled stop in Portland, allowing some members of the crew who have completed their tasks to leave the ship, with others joining for the remainder of trials. DDG 127 is the last Flight IIa Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. BIW’s other ships under construction are Flight III

German Type VIIC submarine U-471 lying damaged in Missiessy Dock No. 1 in Toulon, France, in early 1945.The vessel was bombed on August 6, 1944, by American B-24 Liberator aircraft, causing it to sink and capsize within the dry dock.Following the war, the submarine was raised in 1945, restored, and later returned to service in 1946 as the French submarine Millé (S-609). Decommissioned in 1963.
