HNLMS De Ruyter inbound to Devonport while undergoing FOST serials. She has been upgraded with improved radar for ballistic missile tracking and will be the first Dutch warship to test fire Tomahawk Land Attack Missile (TLAM) at a US test range later this year. The kon_marine, De Zeven Provincien-class frigates are in process of mid-life upgrade programme. Harpoon will be replaced by Naval Strike Missile and ancient Otobreda 127/54 gun will be replaced by Oto Melara 127/6.

USS Carney returned home to a well-deserved welcome at Naval Station Norfolk yesterday after 7-months in the Mediterranean and Red Sea. During this deployment she destroyed 45 Houthi drones and missiles – arguably now the world’s most battle-hardened surface combatant.

On this day 1961 the Frigate HMS Plymouth was commissioned HMNB Devonport. She had a full career which included significant action in Falklands war where she was involved in much of the action and was the venue for the Argentine surrender in South Georgia.
