On this day 30 years ago in 1994, the Minehunter HMS Hurworth found the hull of the submarine HMS Vandal who was lost with all hands after an accident during sea trials only 4 days after her commissioning in 1943.

HMNZS Pukaki was one of six ex-Royal Navy Loch-class anti-submarine frigates in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Along with HMNZS Tutira, Pukaki took part in the early phases of the Korean War, where their duties included escorting ships between Japan and the South Korean port of Pusan (Busan).

USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, USS Laboon and USS Gravely conduct PHOTEX with Italian carrier ITS Cavour, ITS Alpino and FS Forbin in the Red Sea. Cavour is on her way to the Indo-Pacific region for a 5-month deployment.

On this day in 1981, HMS Ledbury was commissioned. She is the oldest operational ship of the Royal Navy and still serves in operations today. At the time one of the most expensive ships per metre was built due to her GRP hull but good value after 43 years of service.
