Yesterday, a US Navy destroyer, USS Paul Ignatius, in the Gulf of Guinea, fired a Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAM) at Islamic State targets in Sokoto State, North West Nigeria. Jihadist groups have been slaughtering Christians in the country, and the US operation was conducted in cooperation with the Nigerian government.

Italian heavy cruiser Trento early in her career, photographed at Venice, Italy. The Trento-class cruisers were the first heavy cruisers built for the Italian Regia Marina (Royal Navy) after World War I, designed to meet the constraints of the Washington Naval Treaty.
