On this day in 1943, USS Argonaut was sunk with her crew of 102—the worst loss of life on a US sub during wartime. Argonaut was the largest non-nuclear sub built by the Navy. Prior to their final patrol, the crew donated the bell that is now in the Submarine Memorial Chapel in Hawaii.

HMS IronDuke arrived in Falmouth today (Joining RFA Cardigan Bay, RFA Argus, HMS Scott & HMS Severn). She will carry out onboard trials during her stay and take part in local engagement events, including hosting the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and Civic Dignitaries from the Town and Cornwall Council.
