Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), a type of hovercraft used for amphibious operations. LCACs transport weapons systems, equipment, cargo, and personnel from ship to shore and across beaches. The unique air cushion capability allows them to access 70% of the world’s coastline, compared to only about 15% for conventional landing craft. They can haul 60 to 75 tons of cargo.
