On this day in 1981, HMS Ledbury was commissioned. She is the oldest operational ship of the Royal Navy and still serves in operations today. At the time one of the most expensive ships per metre was built due to her GRP hull but good value after 43 years of service.

CENTCOM reported 8 Houthi UAS and 2 USVs destroyed by US forces in the Red Sea (plus another UAS destroyed by a coalition warship) yesterday. One anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) also fired but no ships hit. Since this conflict started in Nov 2023, USS Dwight D Eisenhower and The CVN69 air wing have flown more than 12,100 sorties and launched more than 400 missiles. 100 missiles were also launched from the ships of her strike group.
