According to Zona Militar on July 27, 2025, a Fincantieri delegation visited Jakarta on July 15 and 16, 2025, to present a proposal for converting the decommissioned aircraft carrier ITS Giuseppe Garibaldi (C-551) into a naval platform designed for drone and helicopter operations.

The Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Ohio (SSGN 726) made history as the first Ohio-class submarine to pull into Brisbane, Australia, when it arrived for a scheduled port visit on July 27. Ohio’s visit coincides with the upcoming 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in the Pacific. During World War II, Brisbane served as a major submarine hub, hosting over 70 U.S. Navy submarines and three submarine tenders. Steeped in U.S. naval history, Brisbane continues to play a role in the shared history of the two nations.
