On this day 20 years ago in 2004, the second of the RFA Landing Ship Dock Auxiliary (LSDA) ships, RFA Mounts Bay was launched. Exactly a year later the third RFA Cardigan Bay was launched. These versatile ships give the Royal Navy great service.

The US Navy’s lack of frigates means no Atlantic convoys in the event of war. The decision to build useless Littoral Combat Ships instead of frigates was a disaster. A labour shortage in US Shipyards means new Constellation class frigates will be further delayed.

Following defence engagement activity in Martinique, HMS Trent has made further successful drug busts. Two recent operations. resulted in the interception of narcotics worth £16.7 million. Trent has been involved in the seizure of drugs worth a total of £307m since she began operating in the Caribbean at the end of 2023.
