On this day in 1982, the Battle of Falkland Sound began, successfully establishing the British beachhead at San Carlos. Royal Marines and The Parachute Regiment were put ashore by the Roya Navy which suffered damage to numerous ships including HMS ARDENT with 22 sailors lost. Remember.

MAYPORT, Fla. – The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) returned to Naval Station Mayport, Florida, May 19, after being deployed for more than seven months to the U.S. Naval Forces Europe – Africa and U.S. Naval Forces Central Command areas of operation.
