On this day in 1961 the first Leander Class Frigate HMS LEANDER was launched at Harland and Wolff plc, Belfast. The class of 26 were a huge success and would serve the Royal Navy until the 1990s. The last British Leander was still in service with the Indian Navy until 2012.

HMS SPEY recently completed defect rectification with the assistance of our friends in Japan and the support of Japan Marine United in Yokosuka. The Ship has now been fully restored to its capabilities and is back out on the high seas undertaking vital training for the Ship’s Co.
