Swedish seaplane cruiser HSwMS Gotland during the 1930s. Launched in 1933, the Gotland was a unique hybrid vessel designed to function as both a light cruiser and an aircraft carrier. It featured a flight deck equipped with a catapult for launching reconnaissance aircraft and a large crane at the stern for hoisting them back on board. The ship originally carried a squadron of six Hawker Osprey seaplanes. In May 1941, an Osprey from the Gotland famously sighted the German battleship Bismarck during a gunnery exercise. https://ift.tt/Xm4CtqQ https://ift.tt/FIzWRQK
