The removal of the first large hull section is a significant achievement. Each section weighs approximately 250 tons. Dismantling work has resumed on the USS Guardian (MCM 5), that ran aground on Tubbataha Reef in the Philippines on February 17, 2013. The wreck is embedded in a coral reef within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Therefore, the ship will be dismantled in place to avoid damage during towing. https://ift.tt/v0CuDKh https://navsource.net/archives/11/pdf/11120536.pdf https://ift.tt/0lKkrJi
