Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), a type of hovercraft used for amphibious operations. LCACs transport weapons systems, equipment, cargo, and personnel from ship to shore and across beaches. The unique air cushion capability allows them to access 70% of the world’s coastline, compared to only about 15% for conventional landing craft. They can haul 60 to 75 tons of cargo. ARA Veinticinco de Mayo, an aircraft carrier that served in the Argentine Navy. It was the second aircraft carrier incorporated into the Argentine Navy. Originally built for the Royal Navy as HMS Venerable, it was later sold to the Netherlands and then to Argentina in 1968. The ship played a role in the Falklands War (Guerra de las Malvinas) as part of Task Force 79. It was the last aircraft carrier operated by any Latin American navy. Due to high maintenance costs, the carrier was eventually decommissioned and sold for scrap in India in the 1990s.
