On this day in 2013, submarine HMS Trenchant returned to HMNB Devonport after a 335 day deployment which was the longest ever by a Royal Navy SSN patrol. Though the crew were rotated with only 7 men present for the entire deployment.

HMS Swiftsure is now in Number 2 dry dock at Rosyth to begin the second phase of her dismantling process to be completed in 2026. She will be the first ex-RN nuclear submarine to be disposed of(and first in the world to be dismantled rather than the whole reactor compartment removed and buried.

Russian channels now reporting the modern Kalibr-armed corvette RFS Tsiklon was hit by 2 Ukrainian ATACMS (short-range ballistic missiles) and sunk on Saturday night in Sevastopol. (A much more serious loss than just minesweeper Kovrovets previously reported). 6 Russian sailors were killed & 11 injured.

On this day in 1982, the Battle of Falkland Sound began, successfully establishing the British beachhead at San Carlos. Royal Marines and The Parachute Regiment were put ashore by the Roya Navy which suffered damage to numerous ships including HMS ARDENT with 22 sailors lost. Remember.
