Tracked by the USN and USCG, Russian frigate RFS Admiral Gorshkov has arrived in Havana, Cuba. Together with SSGN RFS Kazan, tanker Akadémik Pashnin, and rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, the deployment of these vessels is an attempt to show Russia can still project naval power. (Gorshkov previously visited Cuba in 2019).

On this day 40 years ago in 1984, the Leander Class Frigate HMS Jupiter collided with London Bridge after declining to use tugs on leaving the pool of London. Jupiter was one of the ships used in the 70’s fictional drama, Warship, playing HMS Hero.
