On this day in 1958, the uncompleted USS Kentucky (BB-66) was sold for scrap. Originally intended to be a Montana-class battleship, BB-66 was reordered as the last of the Iowa-class. After WWII, plans to convert the Kentucky into a carrier or a guided missile ship were abandoned.

Türkish Aselsan Marlin USV Brings New EW and ISR Power to NATO Navies. TCB Marlin SİDA, an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) developed by the Turkish defence company ASELSAN. The Marlin SİDA is designed for electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. It is approximately 15 meters long and can reach speeds of up to 35 knots (65 km/h). The vessel has a range of up to 1,000 nautical miles and an endurance of 72 hours. It can be equipped with various weapons and systems, including a 12.7 mm remote-controlled weapon station, guided missiles, light torpedoes, and electronic warfare systems.
