Guided-missile cruiser USS Springfield (CLG-7), shown here in a dry dock in Toulon, France, during March 1965. Originally built as a WWII-era Cleveland-class light cruiser, she was modernised into a Providence-class guided-missile cruiser between 1957 and 1960. The vessel was decommissioned in 1974 and ultimately sold for scrap in 1980.
