At exactly midnight on New Year’s Eve 1999, Topeka parked at a depth of 400 feet, exactly at the intersection of the Equator and the International Date Line. The submarine simultaneously existed in two millennia, two centuries, two years, two seasons, two months, two days, and two hemispheres.
