HMS Cornwall (F 99) approaches the US Navy Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

The photo was taken on May 29, 2007, during flight operations. HMS Cornwall was providing “plane guard” support, a position where a ship supports a carrier in case of an incident or a person falling overboard. 

HMS Cornwall was a Batch 3 Type 22 frigate and the last of its class to be decommissioned in 2011.
