The first ROMULUS Large Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (LUSV), currently under construction by Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) in Louisiana, has reached approximately 30% completion and is scheduled to begin sea trials later this year. ROMULUS is designed around a distributed production model, allowing construction by small shipyards across multiple locations. The photo shows damage to the port side of the vessel, which occurred during the Battle of Kolombangara in July 1943, when the cruiser USS St. Louis was torpedoed by a Japanese destroyer.
