In 2005 the MOD signed an agreement to sell 3 Type 23 Frigates to Chile. HMS Norfolk, HMS Marlborough and HMS Grafton still serve today as Almirante Cochrane, Condell and Lynch. The RN retains 7 of the original class of 16. HMS StAlbans being the last frigate to be commissioned in 2002.

Astute-class nuclear-powered submarine, HMS Ambush (S120), returned to port with significant damage to its conning tower. The submarine sustained external damage following a “glancing collision” with a merchant vessel while training submerged off the coast of Gibraltar in July 2016.
