Spruance class destroyer USS Ingersoll (DD-990), collided with a Singaporean-registered merchant vessel on 20th June 1992, in the Malacca Straits between Malaysia and Indonesia, seriously damaging the American ship but causing no casualties on either vessel, the Navy said.

In 2005 the MOD signed an agreement to sell 3 Type 23 Frigates to Chile. HMS Norfolk, HMS Marlborough and HMS Grafton still serve today as Almirante Cochrane, Condell and Lynch. The RN retains 7 of the original class of 16. HMS StAlbans being the last frigate to be commissioned in 2002.
