ARA Veinticinco de Mayo, an aircraft carrier that served in the Argentine Navy. It was the second aircraft carrier incorporated into the Argentine Navy. Originally built for the Royal Navy as HMS Venerable, it was later sold to the Netherlands and then to Argentina in 1968. The ship played a role in the Falklands War (Guerra de las Malvinas) as part of Task Force 79. It was the last aircraft carrier operated by any Latin American navy. Due to high maintenance costs, the carrier was eventually decommissioned and sold for scrap in India in the 1990s.

In 1975, the Leander-class frigate, HMS ACHILLES, collided with the Greek tanker Olympic Alliance in the Dover Strait. The 5-year-old frigate was recovered to HMNB Devonport for repair. She remained in service until 1990, when she was sold to Chile.
